Dili, 17 August2013 – The seconds of the proclamation of independence of the Republic of Indonesia were commemorated by Indonesian citizens in Dili, one of them through a flag ceremony at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) for Timor-Leste (17/8). The commemoration is special because the senior leaders, employees and participants of the Global Talent Program (GTP) who served in Telkomcel as a representative of Telkom Indonesia for the first time participated in the ceremony.
The ceremony was held at the Indonesian Embassy's yard, Rua Palapaco, Dili starting at around 08.30 East Timor time. Acting as the ceremonial leader, Indonesian Defense Attache Brigadier General Wahyudi Prayitno. The Indonesian Ambassador to Timor-Leste Primanto Hendrasmoro took part as the builder of the ceremony. More than two hundred Indonesian citizens who are on duty or residing in Timor-Leste are seen enthusiastically following the ceremony.
Meanwhile, Telkomcel, Chief Financial Officer Djanis Hernandi, Corporate Secretary Jefrizal Rambe and VP Marketing & Business Strategy Chandra GT Purba. From GTP, represented by three female participants GTP Batch 8. Also present were the leaders and representatives of BUMN staff in Timor-Leste from Mandiri Bank, Pertamina and Sucofindo. Some embassy staff who are citizens of Timor-Leste are also seen to prepare the ceremony.
“The Indonesian people are grateful for the independence that has been given by God for 68 years. We are also grateful, the anniversary of Independence Day in Timor-Leste went well. This is a proof that after the referendum, the Indonesian and Timor-Leste nations remained very close, living side by side with good and good,” explained Ambassador Primanto Hendrasmoro in an interview with local media.
The previous day, Telkomcel Corporate Secretary Jefrizal Rambe representing Telkomcel's management joined the flower saving activity at Seroja Hero Cemetery, Dili, together with Indonesian embassy staff and other Indonesian citizens. The tomb is the final resting place for hundreds of TNI and Polri members killed in an effort to integrate and defend East Timor from 1975 to 1999.
