Nusa Dua, September 21, 2022 - The Bali Annual Telkom International Conference (BATIC) 2022 series of events officially kicked off today, (21/9) in Nusa Dua, Bali. BATIC 2022 was opened by Telkom Commissioner Marcelino Pandin, Telkom President Director Ririek Adriansyah, Telkom Wholesale & International Service Director Bogi Witjaksono, and Telin CEO Budi Satria Dharma Purba. BATIC is back after a two-year hiatus , with the potential to showcase the acceleration of Indonesia's digital transformation, as well as to showcase collaboration as the answer to the evolution of the telecommunications world.
Themed "Reconnecting Regions, Reviving Digital Ecosystem", this year’s BATIC emphasizes the strategic role of Indo-Pacific's position as a connectivity and digital hub, which in turn must be supported by the development of a comprehensive ecosystem that is adequate to make this happen.
Telkom's President Director, Ririek Adriansyah discussed digitalization as a major factor in driving the world economy, and the role of TelkomGroup in encouraging Indonesia's digitalization. “Digital transformation is a crucial aspect to increasing national competitiveness across the economy, government and society. In strengthening digitalization nationally, Indonesia must take action not to just consume technology, but also to start building a local digital industry that can become an enabler for the digitalization of various vertical industries. And TelkomGroup is committed to realizing this digitalization through the provision of digital infrastructure that reaches all of Indonesia and even abroad," Adriansyah said.
Adriansyah explained that Telkom has and will continue to contribute to supporting the government's national agenda. "We are very open to collaborating with numerous strategic partners who will support the company's transformation and together, build the digitalization of Indonesia," said Adriansyah.
Telkom's Director of Wholesale & International Services, Bogi Witjaksono, explained more about Telkom's vision and role to support Indonesia in realizing its Digital Road Map and accelerating the development of the Indo-Pacific connectivity ecosystem.
Indonesia is a rapidly growing digital market with many total eyeballs and has the potential to drive increased demand for bandwidth. In addition, growing internet penetration throughout Asia has been accompanied by an increase in demand for data centers. To capture potential opportunities for connectivity needs and support the development of the Indo-Pacific connectivity ecosystem, TelkomGroup is carrying out three initiatives, namely strengthening infrastructure and connectivity; establishing the Manado Second gateway; and expanding regional data centers.
"With infrastructure, eyeballs and a reliable digital platform, Telkom is optimistic that it can strengthen connectivity in the Indo-Pacific region and make Indonesia a new digital hub in Southeast Asia," said Witjaksono.
Telin CEO, Budi Satria Dharma Purba, as the host of BATIC 2022, was very enthusiastic about welcoming nearly 600 participants from 200 companies in various countries. “BATIC is designed as a means of networking for telco industry business players, technology owners and players in the digital business from well-known companies from around the world. This event is held as a form of Telin’s contribution to the digital telecommunications industry.”
Telkom continues to develop its digital infrastructure, platforms and services to support various activities in every segment and level of society Telkom has 171,654 km of fiber optic cable with access networks that reach up to 499 Capital City Districts (IKK). This infrastructure is also supported by 2 satellites which have 109 transponders, 255,107 Telkomsel Base Transceiver Stations and 36,787 telecommunication towers. In addition, Telkom also has digital platforms including 27 data center facilities, comprising 22 domestic and 5 overseas data centers. Telkom's transformation into a leading digital telecommunications company is further supported by various digital platforms and services with leading-edge technology.

Delta Partners Senior Managing Director Sam Evans started the conference with a brief presentation on “Reconnecting the Telco Community”. Acting as a moderator in a series of panels, Sam explained the significant growth potential that Indo-Pacific has, both in terms of economic growth and technological leadership. With a 60% of the world’s total population, Asia comprises 45% of the world’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and is projected to reach 60% by 2030.
