Dili, Timor-Leste, 30 October 2014 : Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (TL) S.A - Telin TL or better known as "Telkomcel" as today inaugurated the building "Telkomcel Data Center" to support the first Data Center and Cloud Computing services in Timor-Leste. The dedicated Data Center building that was inaugurated today is a development of Telkomcel Data Center previously used for Telkomcel's internal needs. The inauguration was conducted by Telkomcel CEO Dedi Suherman, witnessed by representatives of government, parliament, employers, educational institutions, and banking in Timor-Leste.
The presence of Telkomcel Data Center Building is expected to meet the needs of companies in various industries in Timor-Leste for Data Center services supported by reliable communications network connectivity.
At the inauguration of Data Center conducted today October 30, 2014, Telkomcel provides limited opportunities to several corporate customers who have made an MOU with Telkomcel to test the use of this Data Center service.
In the future, Telkomcel will open a wider opportunity so that more Telkomcel customers can be served as needed. CEO Telkomcel, Dedi Suherman explained that Telkomcel designed and built this data center with the concept of smarter data center. As a Tier-2 Data Center, Telkomcel Data Center has a standard energy efficiency to ensure optimal utilization of resources and provides an optimal Up Time so that it is right to be host for core system and surrounding system.
Since its establishment in 2012, Telkomcel continues to provide ICT-based innovative products and services to maintain its position as a leader in the IT industry in Timor-Leste.
After launching several services previously, Telkomcel currently comes with "Telkomcel Data Center", which is connected redundant by fiber optic network. Telkomcel also uses back-up sytem by radio and satellite networks to the internet backbone. Telkomcel Data Center is certainly connected with a fiber optic network that covers all areas of office and business in Dili.
Built on solid foundations and structures to anticipate the earthquake, Telkomcel Data Center building is equipped with redundant UPS, battery back-up and electric generators that can provide a power source if the EDTL's power supply is disrupted, so continuity of service keeps running.
Several Telkomcel corporate customers have expressed interest in utilizing Telkomcel Data Center services by signing MoUs such as the Ministry of Health of Timor-Leste, Bank Mandiri Timor-Leste, BNCTL and Novo Turismo Hotel.
