Denpasar, 12-14 June 2024 - The TelinEmpowHer Bootcamp 2024, themed "Understanding Your Potential," is more than just a bootcamp. It is an event designed to inspire women in the workplace through a series of discussions and interactive sessions. This event features inspirational speakers, including Former Telin Chief Executive Officer, Septika Widyasrini, Former Telin VP Marketing and Telkom DWS GM Carrier Service OLO, Noor Mahmudah Moorcy, Co-founder of Tulola, Happy Salma, and Dita Guritno, Co-founder and Chief of Content Inspigo. The TelinEmpowHer Bootcamp 2024 aims to build a leadership environment where women in Telin manage their professional and personal lives without creating another exclusivity.

Eligible participants for this event are female employees with a minimum of three years of service at Telin. Additionally, participating female employees are required to submit an essay detailing their motivations and personal stories. Based on these submissions, 35 female employees were selected to attend the bootcamp.

On the first day, Septika Widyasrini (Tika) emphasizes the importance of reinforcing personal growth to secure a robust future. She talked about embracing life's gifts through the discovery of personal missions and values that fundamentally shape one’s character. By crafting a purposeful life strategy and finding contentment, she believes individuals can achieve a balanced lifestyle conducive to both personal effectiveness and ongoing renewal. Tika also highlights the significance of nurturing a growth mindset, focusing on positivity and mastery, which she views as essential for personal development. Furthermore, she discusses the necessity of resilience, advising people to engage in introspection and to extend their perspectives beyond immediate circumstances. She encourages pursuing new opportunities by staying future-focused and envisioning potential possibilities. Leading by example, Tika suggests that establishing a personal leadership brand and excelling as an orchestrator are crucial for those aspiring to leadership roles. Lastly, she underscores the importance of building value through sustainability and maintaining a strong credibility and reputation in all endeavors.

During her session, Dita Guritno delved into the six leadership styles. The first, the visionary leader, encourages team members to use their initiative to solve problems or achieve targets. The second, the coaching leader, is empathetic and focuses on developing people for future success. Third, the affiliative leader promotes harmony within the team and emphasizes emotional connections. The fourth style, the democratic leader, actively seeks input from their teams and relies more on listening than directing. The pacesetting leader, the fifth style, focuses on performance and achieving goals. Lastly, the commanding leader depends on orders, the implicit threat of disciplinary action, and tight control.

Happy Salma's session centered on inspiring women's leadership, self-identity, and the courage to speak out. She shared her journey with two colleagues in building Tulola, a modern luxury jewelry brand that partners with local artisans which dominated by women, to incorporate beautiful handmade details into its collections. She motivated participants to express their opinions, not to fear speaking out, and to pursue their passions. Concluding her session, she emphasized, "Whatever you love, do it with full passion and dedication. It will bring many colors to life. The diverse aspects that intertwine and complement each other will open various paths to goodness and lead to success.

On the final day of the bootcamp, all participants took part in a series of team-building activities designed to boost teamwork, trust, and friendships among everyone. These activities included problem-solving games, group discussions, and physical exercises that required working together and good communication. The goal was to strengthen the leadership and people skills that participants had learned during the bootcamp.

Women's leadership in the workplace is an increasingly discussed issue. Despite progress in efforts to achieve gender equality, women still face various barriers in reaching high leadership positions. The negative stigma that women cannot lead in the professional world often limits their aspirations and career opportunities in the workplace. In sectors such as the telecommunications industry, the predominance of men in strategic positions can be an additional barrier for women seeking to reach the pinnacle of their careers.

Nevertheless, the journey towards empowered women's leadership continues to show significant progress. Events like the TelinEmpowHer Bootcamp 2024 are important because it’s not only provide participants with practical skills and insights but also inspire them to take on greater roles within organizations. By combining traditional cultural values with modern economic strategies, this event not only offers direct support to participants but also creates a supportive environment for women to grow and assume influential leadership roles in the future.
