Telin and Citra Connect Officially Commences NDP Cable Landing Station (CLS) Construction, Powering Indonesia’s Global Digital Connectivity

PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Telin), a subsidiary of Telkom Indonesia alongside PT Citranet Sarana Digital (“Citra Connect”), have officially held a Ceremonial for the Cable Landing Station (CLS) at Nongsa Digital Park, Batam. Having previously using Tanjung Bemban as its majority landing points, Telin opted to initiate a new Cable Landing Station (CLS) location in Nongsa.

Batam, 19 December 2024 — PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Telin), a subsidiary of Telkom Indonesia alongside PT Citranet Sarana Digital (“Citra Connect”), have officially held a Ceremonial for the Cable Landing Station (CLS) at Nongsa Digital Park, Batam. Having previously using Tanjung Bemban as its majority landing points, Telin opted to initiate a new Cable Landing Station (CLS) location in Nongsa. This CLS serves as an integral part of the strategic infrastructure project connecting Indonesia with the rest of World, marking a significant milestone in strengthening Indonesia's international connectivity widely known as Indonesia Cable Express (ICE) Submarine Cable which consists of 7 cable system.

ICE system is a future-forward initiative that establishes vital links where one of the purposes to unlock Batam and Indonesia not only to major cities in Indonesia and neighboring countries like 

Singapore and Malaysia, hence it will be seamlessly connected with Middle East, East Asia down to Australia as well as USA. This system demonstrates Telin’s commitment to actualize the vision of a digitally connected Indonesia that leads in the global digital revolution.

The construction of the Batam CLS solidifies Batam’s role as Indonesia’s primary gateway for international connectivity, fostering digital and economic development in western Indonesia and supporting regional integration, as well as the growing epicentrum of Data Center in Indonesia and South East Asia. This CLS construction represents a significant step forward in advancing Indonesia’s telecommunications infrastructure, occupied by robust and cutting-edge technology submarine cable systems.

The ceremony marked the installation of the CLS’s first foundation pillar and was attended by Telkom Group Telin and Citramas Executives and Leaders, including Bogi Witjaksono, CEO CFU WIB Telkom Group; Dwi Pratomo Juniarto, EVP Telkom Regional I; Muhammad Rofik, President Commissioner Telin; Bambang A. Margono, Commissioner Telin; Jimmi Adiguna Kembaren, Commisioner Telin, Budi Satria Dharma Purba, CEO Telin; and Senior Leaders from Telkom Group and Telin. As well as Kris Wiluan, Chairman of Citramas Group; Marco Bardelli, Senior Executive Director of Nongsa Digital Park dan Citra Connect; and other Senior Leaders from Nongsa Digital Park.

Kris Wiluan, Chairman of Citramas Group also added, “The Nongsa Digital Park Special Economic Zone is a strategic initiative to advance Indonesia’s digital economy by combining advanced education, cutting-edge infrastructure, and data center investments to create high quality jobs for Indonesian talent. In partnership with Telin, this project will establish Batam as a globally connected, high-tech data center hub.

Budi Satria Dharma Purba, CEO of Telin, emphasized, “We are proud to celebrate the establishment of this Cable Landing Station (CLS) in Nongsa Digital Park, along with Citraconnect and NDP. The CLS will serve as landing points of 4 cable systems predominantly ICE Cable Systems.
