Malang, 10 August 2023 – A significant step towards advancing global connectivity and infrastructure has been taken as PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Telin), a subsidiary of PT Telkom Indonesia Tbk (Telkom) and Asia Pacific Development Trust (APIDT) Infrastructure Pty Ltd (APIDT), a joint initiative of WIDE Project and APNIC, have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today. This MoU lays the foundation for a potential regional strategic partnership that will explore the investment, provision, and utilisation of submarine cable and related services.
The MoU was signed by Telin Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Budi Satria Dharma Purba, APIDT Director Paul Wilson and Professor Jun Murai. The signing ceremony, held at Grand Mercure Hotel, Malang, East Java, Indonesia, signifies the commitment of both parties to explore diverse forms of cooperation, including but not limited to IRU (Indefeasible Right of Use), joint investment, and co-building.
Under this strategic partnership, Telin and APIDT will collaborate further to utilize the potential of submarine cable technology, enabling more efficient and robust data transmission across borders. This initiative is expected to contribute significantly to accelerate digital transformation, particularly for research and education, enabling faster innovation, and establishing Indonesia as the main gateway for High-Speed Data Delivery.
