Timor-Leste, 23 March 2016 – Bank Mandiri launched the Smart Banking service for all Timorese citizens. This Smart Banking service is the result of cooperation with Telkomcel which includes the launching of Mandiri EDC (Mandiri EDC) and Electronic Data Capture (e-Cash) service (branchless banking). Especially e-cash services will facilitate financial transactions when making deposits, withdrawals, transfers or payments that can be made at agents / merchants who work together with Bank Mandiri.
The launch of the Smart Banking service was conducted at Hall Lt.1 Timor Plaza, Dili marked with a subscription agreement agreement between Bank Mandiri represented by General Manager of Bank Mandiri, Lourentius Aris Budiyanto with Telkomcel represented by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Telkomcel , Dedi Suherman. Also attending in the signing ceremony Deputy Governor of Bank Central Timor-Leste, Dra. Sara Lobo, Chairman of the Board of Muliaman D. Hadad's Service Authority (OJK) and the Board of Directors of Bank Mandiri, represented by one of the Directors, Rico Usthavia Frans in Dili, Timor-Leste (23/3).
Mandiri Mobil is a car that contains a means to get banking services, including ATMs, and can be found anywhere without having to go to the branch. While Independent EDC (Electronic Data Capture) is a friction machine that can accept card transactions on merchants or outlets. While e-Cash service (Branchless banking) itself is a banking service where every customer can perform financial transactions via mobile phone. All three of Mandiri's smart banking services will be supported by Telkomcel’ network in all districts of Timor-Leste.
Telkomcel's CEO explained that Telkomcel Timor-Leste is ready to give full support to Dili's current and future development of Dili Banking services. Telkomcel is strongly committed to optimizing support for economic development, telecommunications and improving the welfare of communities in Timor-Leste.
Telkomcel itself is now believed to be the first choice as a total solution provider in the banking segment in Timor-Leste. This is evidenced by the operation of Delivery Money Access service in Timor-Leste which is a cooperation between Telkomcel and Banco Nacional de Comercio de Timor-Leste (BNCTL) since 2015. Pomegranate has been operating in all districts, and Telkomcel is also a provider of links for five branches of one Bank of Indonesia that will operate in the near future.
The Banco Central de East Timor fully supports the initiatives carried by Bank Mandiri and Telkomcel this. Deputy Governor of Banco Central de East Timor dra. Sara Lobo said it appreciated this smart banking innovation in an effort to add value to East Timor's economy with the ease with which it was offered.
